Sparkling Symphony: In Taipei, Prosecco DOC Becomes Music to Your Ears
Imagine stepping into an elegant room—soft lighting, glasses lined up, and a string trio tuning their instruments. As the first glass of Prosecco DOC is poured, the music begins to fill the air.

But this isn’t just background ambiance: every melody has been carefully chosen, or rather, composed, to express and amplify the unique character of the wine in your glass. This is how taste becomes a full sensory experience. This is Sparkling Symphony, the multisensory event by the Prosecco DOC Consortium, now on stage in Taipei.
An experience where wine isn’t just tasted, it’s heard.
The concept behind Sparkling Symphony finds its roots in the research of Professor Charles Spence, director of the Crossmodal Research Laboratory at the University of Oxford, who has long explored how our senses interact. According to Spence, sounds, lighting, and even textures can influence how we perceive taste.
The Prosecco DOC Consortium brought these insights to life, creating a live experience where each wine was paired with a musical composition designed to highlight its organoleptic qualities. No longer just a background track, the music took center stage, right alongside the wine.
High-pitched frequencies enhanced freshness, delicate staccato notes echoed fine bubbles, and a pulsing rhythm evoked the lively perlage rising in the glass. Every detail was designed to guide the audience on a journey through sound and flavor.
Nine wineries took part in this concert of taste, bringing some of their best labels to Taipei: Anna Spinato Winery, Brilla!, Cantine Maschio, La Marca, Masottina, Pitars, Torresella, V8+, and Val D’Oca.

Each presented a different expression of Prosecco DOC, with unique aromatic nuances, structures, and intensities that were translated into true “liquid soundtracks.” Interpreting these sonic emotions was an exceptional string trio, three young musicians from the Taipei National University of the Arts, who were actively involved in creating the paired compositions.
To extend the experience beyond the event itself, an interactive website was launched, where each wine is featured with a technical sheet and its corresponding musical piece. With just one click, users can relive the symphony, explore the producer’s story, and find distribution channels within the Taiwanese market, making it easy to recreate the experience at home.
An innovative way to introduce Asian audiences to an Italian product that embodies conviviality, quality, and contemporary charm. In a market where the language of wine can sometimes feel distant, music creates an immediate emotional bridge.
The success of this debut edition in Taiwan has brought new attention to an untapped potential: the experiential value of Prosecco DOC as an ambassador not only of taste but of an Italian lifestyle that engages all the senses. A new edition is already scheduled for September 2025, with the goal of expanding the format’s reach, welcoming a broader audience, and telling the story of the Prosecco DOC world in an even more immersive and cultural way.
With Sparkling Symphony, the Prosecco DOC Consortium has sent a strong and clear message: wine is not just something to be tasted, but an experience that can move us, connect us, and tell stories. In a world where attention is won in seconds, the union of wine and music has proven its ability to slow down time and create a true moment of connection between people and product.
